Book Talk: "The Ukrainian Night: An Intimate History of Revolution"

One hundred years after the Bolshevik Revolution, and four years after Ukrainian revolution on the Maidan, what does ‘revolution’ mean today? Using Professor Shore’s new book from Yale University Press as a jumping-off point, Dr. Marci Shore and discussant Dr. Vladimir Tismaneanu discussed when a protest crosses an imaginary boundary to become a revolution. Using the case of Ukraine, they asked whether solidarity is possible in a postmodern age and why liberalism proved to be so fragile a century ago—and why it has again proven so fragile now.
